Colour Photocopiers
Which colour copier do you need?
Did you know that there are three types of machines?
Graphics Quality Copiers – a tiny number of companies need added colour calibration and flexibility which is available from using a RIP this is a Raster Image Processor http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raster_image_processor this is most commonly used by graphics departments and designers but beware the added cost of a RIP can be very high. Without doubt the most popular brand of RIP is Fiery, and they offer RIPs for the majority of manufacturers.
Business Colour Photocopiers – When colour copiers were first launched they all required a RIP which made them unaffordable for many companies. Things have now changed and all manufacturers make machines with print controllers to replace the RIP, these are much lower cost items and still give excellent quality but are not as flexible as a graphics quality machine. We estimate 75% of business use a business colour photocopier.
Smart Colour copiers – These machines are cheaper and only suited to limited environments, usually they are fast on black but very slow when copying or printing in colour for example 31 ppm mono and 7 ppm colour. The copy quality is good but reliability can suffer if more than 20% of the work is used in colour.
